Self-employment used to be rare. Back in the day (cue my ‘Folksy Grandma Voice’) there really weren’t that many of us. Now, with our new gig economy and about a million other reasons, it feels like almost every person I know is self-employed or on a flex-schedule of sorts.
Not working a 'Monday-through-Friday-from-this-time-to-that-time' schedule has always meant needing to find structure and form for my days, whether they are filled top to bottom, or as empty as a champagne glass at 12:01 am on January 1st.
This week and next are real doozies! Every day I will be “someone else” and every day is filled – including a back and forth trip to Los Angeles. It’s weeks like this when having a routine in place gives me peace of mind and fortitude to get the work done and most importantly, enjoy it!
Here is one part of the above ‘structure’ I mentioned: nutrition! A car simply will not go without gas and I simply cannot go without nourishing and delicious foods to give me energy. This green drink recipe comes from Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Juice which contains so many of my favorite recipes. Hope you enjoy it!
GINGER CHIA SUPERCHARGER
“….this smoothie packs in protein from chia seeds, almond milk, almond butter and kale….tastes decadent but fruity and uplifting at the same time.” ~ K. Carr
1 Cup Kale (I use spinach most days cuz I always have some in the fridge)
1 Banana, frozen
1 Cup Mango, frozen and cubed
½ -inch piece of ginger, peeled (I use the already grated ginger in a jar)
1 teaspoon Chia Seeds
1 tablespoon Almond Butter
1 ½ Cups Almond Milk (or any other non-dairy choice)
Blend together and enjoy!
