Waking this morning to the extreme quiet brought on by an overnight snow delivery was pure joy. I'm sure it would be comparable to the extreme joy mirrored by me as a kid when waking to a snow day meant no school and hours of outdoor playing.
What strikes me about snow days in the south, and really anywhere, is the quiet. The world becomes delightfully still and if ever there was a sense of peace on earth, it is when a blanket of white snuggles us all together.
To that end, I think I am going to put in a request for a monthly "Mandatory Snow Day"! Just one day of vast muted noise when I can sit, wrapped in a blanket with hot coffee in hand staring outside, reveling in the calm. Join me, please. I promise we can all return to hustling and bustling tomorrow, let's just inhale the quiet together, one breath at a time, today.
